San Diego, California

Welcome to San Diego! Located on the Pacific coast of California, this buzzing city is the eighth largest in the United States and one that knows how to have a good time! With world-renowned local attractions, fantastic restaurant options, over 200 craft breweries and tasting rooms, not to mention the incredible nightlife it has to offer, San Diego is sure to make your list of greatest cities to visit.

We are excited that our itinerary will allow our MEGACRUISE guests the opportunity to experience this port of call the right way. From sun up to late into the night, our guests have the time to experience more than just a short day here. What is there to do? Let’s skim the surface of all San Diego has to offer!

With very rare exception, you can expect a beautiful sunny day as we pull into the Port of San Diego. The weather here beckons you to stay outside and there are some awesome outdoor attractions just a quick cab/ride share away. Head on over to Balboa Park, grab a coffee from Café Mingeiand wander through the 1200 acres of beautiful park, gardens, walking trails and 17 museums. Then, grab a quick ride over to Old Town for some delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine, fun boutique shopping and a cultural experience like no other. Of course, San Diego is home of Sea World, Seaport Village, the world-famous San Diego Zoo and the Zoo Safari Park, and 70 miles of soft sand beaches for surfing, paddle boarding and more…making the outdoor adventure options truly endless.

If food is where your heart lies, spend your afternoon bar and restaurant hopping through the 48 square blocks of Little Italy. This area is a foodie’s paradise with new, unique dining concepts popping up almost weekly. Italian, farm to table, wine bars and gastropubs adorn these restored and iconic streets. Prefer to drink your calories? Easy enough. Craft beer lovers, San Diego is the craft beer capital of America and waiting for you! From tasting rooms, brew pubs, beer tours and more, this city has some of the most fantastic and unique breweries that any beer fanatic would die to visit.

When the sun goes down, this is when the magic happens! If you have never experienced the San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, this will be the perfect chance. Comedy clubs, nightclubs, restaurants and rooftop bars…there is no shortage of fun, booze and more! And, with The NCL Jewel not sailing until just after Midnight, expect concerts and jams under the stars in one of the most beautiful bays on earth! This will truly be a day to remember!

Ensenada, Mexico

As MEGACRUISE heads 90 miles south from San Diego, we will find ourselves in the warm, but mild climate, calm seas and friendly atmosphere of Ensenada, Mexico! As one of the largest seaport towns, this port of call has everything you want in a destination; outdoor recreation, local attractions and wineries, incredible food and culture and of course, great cantinas to grab a cold one and party with locals.

If you are active and looking for an all-day adventure, grab a surfboard, kayak or paddleboard and hit the beach for the perfect day in the sun and surf. Want to stay more land-based? Book a day of horseback riding through the desert trails, mountains or even beachside. Snorkeling, zip lining, sailing, fishing and more…the outdoor adventures are calling for you.

If you are looking for a site unlike one you have ever seen before, then head to La Bufadora (The Blowhole). Climb the cliffs around this marine geyser, learn the legend behind it and when you are done, wander through the flea market nearby and pick up some souvenirs made by local vendors. Love wine? Guadalupe Valley is famous for its wine country and a perfect way to spend the afternoon and see Ensenada in a way not many ever experience. Sip wine, tour the different properties and learn about the winemaking process in Mexico.

How about food? With great restaurant options not too far from the port, you can enjoy tasty and quick street options from La Guerrerense, as well as a full dining experience of tableside salsa, fresh cooked tortillas and the beautiful atmosphere at La Hoguera. From street tacos and local pubs to some of the most elegant restaurants and dishes you have ever experienced… don’t miss out on the traditional Mexican cuisine around town.

Of course, what is a day in Mexico without a cerveza or two? Check out Hussong’s Cantina, the oldest bar in Baja and where the Margarita was invented, the locals welcome you with open arms and the mariachi band takes requests (who knows…maybe they even have some Metal up their sleeves). With inexpensive drinks and a warm and friendly atmosphere, you may just waste the day in this charming watering hole.

Whether you choose a day in the sun or fun indoors; you will always remember your day in Ensenada, Mexico.
